Lunchbox Brooklyn

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Forest Natural in Greenpoint, Brooklyn was replaced this summer with a new spot called Lunchbox. The new eatery is owned by a couple that live right above it. Lunchbox offers a wide range of breakfast items such as bagels, pastries, egg sandwiches, and more. For lunchtime, they have a variety of sandwiches and salad combinations.  They also offer homemade smoothies, juices, and coffees.  What’s really great about Lunchbox is that they are open until 10pm. Good quality eateries that stay open late are a rare find. Check out their full listing here: http://www.freewilliamsburg.com/listings/lunchbox

Summer Vacation 101: Don’t Plan Anything – Liliana Leon

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

One thing that I learned all summer long was to avoid the To-Do list and the check-list of things that should have been done. Maybe things would be different for someone whose an only child and perhaps lives somewhere in the middle of Omaha (no offense to any of my readers), but the truth is that I am a 23 year old Hispanic with about 250 family members (not counting the family left in Mexico, Miami, and God knows where else my family has emerged to!). Trying to get something done when you have invitations to wedding, birthdays, baby showers, and your aunts and uncles homes every other day to eat carne asada with rice and beans can be challenging.

Fine Young Trenders! Fall 2010 Trends To Avoid Or Swoon Over

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

If you didn’t have time to make it to fashion week this year, and you are at a loss for key pieces to purchase or to avoid, have no fear. Lovey Ms. Valentine is here to help guide you!

While you’re sashaying down your own personal catwalk, you may want to shy away from Cutouts. No my dears, this trend, as rocked many times by the likes of Miss Gaga and Rihanna, has not yet disappeared, and is still skulking around in fall 2010.

My New Favorite Lip Gloss Combination – Kelly M. Cantu (www.candofashion.com)

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

I know some people that believe what we put on our bodies (make-up, deodorant, body wash, perfume, etc.) are all toxins. They believe that these toxins make us sick and can even contribute to our emotions. Whether or not this is true, I have no freaking clue! Heck, one of my friends that believes this even makes her own household cleaner. Some people might call her a granola, or “earthy” (as like to call these people), but I still love her. Do I agree with this? Well, I haven’t done the research to know if it’s true or not, but what I do know is I LOVE make-up.

La Dolce Vita – Tiffany Reo

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Hey Label Girl Hype readers! Hope you guys are doing well. I’ve missed you. Life has been cray-zay, seriously. Summer time means you are working 24/7. “Hitting up the Hampton’s,” happy hour at rooftop bars, and a weekend at your friend’s shore house somehow become a second (or maybe even third, this is Manhattan, home of the gypsy) job. You have to do these things because summer is so short! It’s such a well deserved treat to party in the sand with a cocktail that you don’t even know how to pronounce in hand. So yes, I’ve been very busy engaging in all of the above, and of course working hard so I can afford it ;)

CASA Decor: Liliana Leon’s Top Design & Furniture Picks For The Summer

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Dear loyal and devoted readers,

I was sitting at home last night thinking about my couch (the color, the fabric), and wondering why my mother, who has an eye for design and decorating, might have chosen that couch. After a couple minutes, what started as a couch inspection had now become a whole house remodeling and redecorating celebration of thoughts and ideas!

I imagined myself being able to clear my house completely, starting off with clean white walls and an empty space. What colors would I paint my walls? What furniture pieces would I bring in? What kind of feeling and mood would I want to interpret?

Guilty Pleasure – A Review Of ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars”

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Have you figured out your guilty pleasure this summer? I certainly have. Last week, a new show called Pretty Little Liars,” based on a series of books by Sara Shepa, premiered on ABC Family. The new hit series has the potential to be the next Emmy award winner.

The show incorporates classic actress Lucy Hale, who played the little sister (Becca Sommers) in “Bionic Woman.”  Hale plays Aria, who is my favorite of the four girls. Accompanying Aria on the show include characters Spencer, Hanna, and Emily.
